The special needs of the adult mentally challenged persons deserves special attention. As a social security measure it has been decided to implement a model programme for the support and rehabilitation of adults with neuro-developmental disorders such as autism, mental retardation and severe cerebral palsy. The State Planning Board jointly with the Social Justice Department developed a strategy for assisted living for adult mentally challenged persons. Theprogramme will be initiated with the active involvement of reputed NGOs.
